Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Apps Team Leader to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead a team of full-stack developers with a strong emphasis on frontend development, ensuring high-quality user experiences across our applications. You will manage the Scrum process, mentor team members, and contribute hands-on to the codebase (around 30% of your time). The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in modern frontend frameworks with solid backend knowledge, enabling you to guide the team end-to-end. You will play a key role in driving team velocity, fostering best practices, and delivering reliable, scalable, and user-centric applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of full-stack developers.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote a customer-first mindset to ensure solutions meet real user needs.
Hands-On Development
- Contribute actively to the codebase (~30%), with a focus on React/Next.js frontend development.
- Support backend development efforts in Node.js, or Ruby.
- Collaborate on design and implementation of new features and services.
Scrum & Delivery
- Oversee the Scrum process, including sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in team velocity and delivery quality.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align development efforts.
Collaboration & Alignment
- Partner with product managers, designers, and backend/core teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Share knowledge and best practices across the R&D department.
- Contribute to company-wide technical initiatives.
Architecture & Infrastructure
- Guide the team in building scalable, reliable applications on AWS.
- Ensure performance, maintainability, and security of app services.
- Stay current with frontend and full-stack best practices to drive technical excellence.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a software developer.
- 2+ years of experience as a team leader or engineering manager.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in React and Next.js.
- Backend experience in Go (advantage), Node.js, or Ruby.
- Good knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL).
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and modern DevOps practices is a plus.
- Knowledge of design patterns, testing, and software engineering best practices.
- Proficient in English.
