About the Role


We're looking for an Engineering lead to lead Kahoona’s growing engineering team. This role combines technical leadership with people management: you’ll lead a team of engineers both inhouse and offshore, and work closely with the CTO and VP Product leading the company through a transformational phase of significant growth, to deliver a reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient Kahoona’s Customer Intelligence & Decisioning Platform.

This role is a leadership hands on role: you’ll get your hands dirty in architecture design and review, and at the same time act as a leader who set standards, processes, coach engineers, and ensure smooth collaboration across the entire team.


Key Responsibilities


Team Leadership & Growth

  • Manage and mentor the Kahoona engineering team.
  • Create a culture of ownership, collaboration, and accountability. Maintain high standards of work methodologies and delivery.
  • Establish effective communication and delivery rhythms across our cross functional teams



Hands-On Technical Leadership

  • Lead & contribute to design, coding, and reviews of the platform, backend , data and MLE functions.
  • Guide architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency, while supporting significant customer growth.
  • Ensure high-quality engineering standards, CI/CD practices, and observability.

Own Production End-to-End: Delivery & Execution

  • Lead production on-call, define SLO, build observability, incident response, and postmortems.
  • Own engineering delivery timelines and release cadence.
  • Coordinate between core and offshore engineers to ensure a unified execution pipeline.
  • Balance short-term feature delivery with long-term technical health.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the CTO and VP Product on architecture, integrations, and security.
  • Work with the CEO to ensure that delivery is aligned with the company’s mid-long term vision.
  • Partner with Product on roadmap prioritization and execution.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing collaboration with customer-facing teams.

  • Requirements
    • Experience of 4+ years of managing a software engineering team.
    • A mix of Management with Hands-on tech lead role: lead and mentor in-house + offshore engineers, keep coding/reviewing, and set the bar on architecture, reliability, and delivery.
    • Worked in cloud-based Big Data environments, orchestrated and designed data pipelines, and have some experience in holding a robust Machine Learning (AI) stack, including MLOps.
    • Own production end-to-end: on-call, CI/CD, observability, incident response/postmortems - while balancing fast features with long-term technical health and cost.
    • Partner closely with the CTO and Product on roadmap, integrations, and security; high autonomy and impact.


    Preferred Skills


    • Strong backend (Python/Scala), AWS, and ML-in-prod (registries/monitoring/rollback); track record of high-scale systems; data platforms/personalization a plus.
    • Familiar with platform development and maintenance (TS/React)
    • Experience in, Data Platforms, Personalization, Marketing Intelligence Solutions or decisioning systems.
    • Background in ML model productionization (registries, monitoring, rollback).
    • Familiarity with privacy-by-design and compliance-driven delivery.
