We are looking for a VP of R&D to lead Nominal’s 20-person engineering organization and own the technical vision, execution, and scaling of our platform. This is a key leadership role, reporting directly to our CTO & Co-Founder, with significant influence over product direction, architecture, and team culture.
Responsibilities And Impact
- Define and drive the technical strategy and architecture of Nominal’s AI-powered financial platform, ensuring it scales reliably as the company grows
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing R&D organization, including engineering managers and senior ICs, while building a strong engineering culture around ownership, quality, and velocity
- Establish engineering best practices, processes, and metrics, and continuously improve how we build and operate software
- Play a central role in hiring, onboarding, and developing top engineering talent across Israel and Europe
- Partner closely with Product, Design, Sales, and Customer Success to translate business needs into robust, scalable technical solutions
- Own delivery and execution, ensuring teams ship fast without compromising stability, security, or maintainability
Requirements:
- Extensive experience (at least 3 years) leading R&D or engineering groups in high-growth B2B SaaS companies, ideally at the VP or Director level
- Experience managing product-facing R&D teams that got to a meaningful production phase
- Strong technical background with the ability to dive deep into architecture, system design, and complex technical trade-offs
- Proven experience scaling teams, systems, and processes from early-stage to growth-stage environments
- Hands-on leadership style that balances strategic thinking with execution and comfort operating in ambiguity
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to align technical execution with business goals
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, modern data stacks, and AI-driven products
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building complex and mission-critical enterprise software
- Familiarity with LLM, AI, and ML-driven products and data-heavy platforms
