General Summary

Job Function

As a Staff RF Software Engineer, you will lead the design and development of advanced RF software features for our 5G systems, while providing technical leadership and guidance across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and own advanced RF software features for 5G systems.
  • Write high‑quality, clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with SW R&D, system architects, firmware, and cross‑functional engineering teams.
  • Drive architectural decisions and contribute to long‑term technical direction.


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.


Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of hands‑on experience developing embedded or low‑level software for complex systems.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in C and C++, with extensive experience in RTOS and/or Embedded Linux environments.
  • Strong understanding of real‑time systems, including scheduling, synchronization, memory management, and latency‑sensitive design.
  • Proven ability to own and lead complex software systems with multiple stakeholders and long lifecycles.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining large‑scale, performance‑critical embedded software architectures.
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to investigate issues spanning software, firmware, and hardware boundaries.
  • Experience working in cross‑functional, system‑level environments, balancing software quality, performance, and hardware constraints.


Advantages (Nice to Have)

  • Hands‑on experience with RF signal processing, calibration flows, or software‑based RF algorithms.
  • Background in wireless communication systems (e.g., 4G/5G, RF transceivers, modem or RAN software).
  • Experience with low‑level hardware interfaces and peripheral protocols (e.g., I²C, SPI).
  • Knowledge of microprocessor and multiprocessor architectures, including concurrency and inter‑processor communication.
  • Experience with bring‑up, integration, and validation of RF or embedded platforms.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.


OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

  • 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
  • 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Database Management Software.
  • 3+ years of experience with API.
  • 1+ year of work experience with Git, Perforce, or Source Code Management System.


Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Leverages advanced Software knowledge and experience to design, develop, create, modify, and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs.
  • Analyzes user needs, software requirements, and time and cost constraints to design and customize software for optimal operational efficiency.
  • Designs and implements software modules for large-scale products and systems.
  • Participates in and leads design, coding, unit testing, debugging, and integration efforts to ensure projects are completed to specifications and schedules.
  • Performs complex code reviews and regression tests as well as triages and fixes issues to ensure the quality of code.
  • Collaborates with individuals outside the software function (e.g., Hardware, Systems, and Test engineers) to ensure solutions work with other components of a specific project.
  • Writes detailed technical documentation for complex Software projects.

  • Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.
  • Decision-making is significant in nature and affects work beyond immediate work group.
  • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information. May require basic negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
  • Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).
  • Tasks often require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; extensive planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
